BEYOND THE WILD

TOURS & TRAVEL

How to check we are real

You are considering sending several thousand dollars to a company in another country that you have never met. You should check us out, and we would rather show you how than ask you to take our word for it.

Check us independently

These can all be confirmed without asking us. That is the point.

Registered company name

Beyond the Wild Tours & Travel Limited

Search the name at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau. A registered company appears in the public register.

Company registration number

Ask us and we will give it to you

Cross-check the number against the URSB register. It should match the company name exactly.

Tax identification number (TIN)

Ask us and we will give it to you

A registered taxpayer can be verified through the Uganda Revenue Authority's TIN validation service.

Tourism operating licence

Ask us and we will give it to you

Licensed tour operators are registered with the Uganda Tourism Board. Ask us for our licence number and check it with UTB directly.

Registered address

Kampala, Uganda

Ask us for the full address. We will give it, and you are welcome to visit by arrangement.

Some registration details are not published here yet. We are a new company and parts of our registration are still being completed. Ask us and we will send you what we hold, along with how to verify it. We would rather say that plainly than display something we cannot yet evidence.

What we will never do

Hold us to these. If anything claiming to be us does the opposite, it is not us.

  • We will never ask for your card details by email, WhatsApp or over the phone.
  • We will never ask you to send money to a personal account.
  • We will never pressure you to pay the same day.
  • We will always give you written terms, including cancellation conditions, before any payment is due.
  • We will always agree to a video call before you pay, if you would like one.
  • We will tell you our registration details on request, and we would rather you checked them.
  • We will never publish a review we wrote ourselves, or a rating we cannot evidence.

Warning signs, with any operator

This applies whether or not you travel with us. Travel fraud is real, and Uganda has its share of it. We would rather you booked safely with somebody else than got defrauded.

🚩 Pressure to pay immediately

A legitimate operator will let you check them out. Nobody should be rushing you into a same-day transfer for a trip months away.

🚩 Payment to a personal account

Money for a company trip should go to a company account in the company's name. If an account name does not match the business, stop and ask why.

🚩 No written terms before payment

You should receive what is included, what is excluded, and the cancellation terms in writing before any money moves.

🚩 Prices far below everyone else

Gorilla permits have a fixed cost set by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. An operator quoting well below the permit price alone either does not have permits or is not planning to buy them.

🚩 Refusing a video call

Any real operator can spare twenty minutes to speak to you face to face before you send several thousand dollars.

🚩 Only reachable through social media

A business should have a real email address at its own domain, a phone number that answers, and a registered company behind it.

🚩 Reviews that all sound the same

Dozens of five-star reviews posted close together, with similar phrasing and no specifics, are usually bought.

What we cannot show you yet

We are new. We do not have hundreds of reviews, years of trading history or a wall of awards, and we are not going to manufacture any of them. Our reviews page is empty because nobody has travelled with us yet, and it will stay empty until someone has.

What we can offer instead is a video call with a founder before you pay anything, written terms in advance, verifiable registration, and being straightforward about exactly this. Judge us on that.
