↩️ Cancellation & Refund Policy

Version 0.9 (draft) · Updated 15 August 2026 · Pending legal review

This policy is in draft and is being finalised with qualified Ugandan legal review. The terms that govern your trip are the ones issued in writing with your quotation and booking confirmation, which you will always receive before any money is payable.

You always get the specific schedule in writing first

The cancellation schedule that applies to your booking, the actual deadlines and charges, is set out in your quotation and booking confirmation, and you will have it in writing before any money is payable. If you do not have it, ask us and we will send it before you pay anything.

We deliberately do not publish a single set of percentages here, because the charges that genuinely apply depend on the suppliers behind your specific trip. Publishing one figure for every trip would be misleading.

What cancellation charges depend on

  • •The date you cancel, relative to your departure.
  • •The conditions of each supplier involved, lodges, camps and hotels each set their own.
  • •Permits, which are governed by the issuing authority's rules.
  • •Flights, tickets and activities already secured on your behalf.
  • •Group-trip conditions, where applicable.
  • •Any amounts already paid out on your behalf that we cannot recover.

Permits are a specific case

Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are secured in advance through the Uganda Wildlife Authority and are generally non-refundable once issued. Where your trip includes a permit, this will be stated clearly in your booking terms, and the permit portion is treated separately from the rest of your trip cost.

If we cancel

If we must cancel a confirmed journey for reasons within our reasonable control, we will tell you promptly and provide the remedy applicable under your booking terms and applicable law.

If a scheduled group departure does not reach its minimum numbers, we will tell you as early as we can and set out your options clearly, including an alternative departure, a revised arrangement, or a refund under your booking terms.

Where a cancellation results from circumstances outside our reasonable control, supplier conditions and the force majeure provisions of our Terms may apply.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption. Insurance frequently covers situations that supplier terms do not, and it is not included in our pricing.

Amendments

Where you want to change a confirmed booking rather than cancel it, tell us as early as possible. Some changes can be made at no cost; others incur supplier charges or a price difference. We will always show you the effect of a change before it is confirmed.
