This policy is in draft and is being finalised with qualified Ugandan legal review. The terms that govern your trip are the ones issued in writing with your quotation and booking confirmation, which you will always receive before any money is payable.
We store one thing on your device without asking: which channel brought you here. If you accept, we also allow Google Analytics to measure which pages people find useful, and allow Meta's advertising pixel to measure people who arrived from a Facebook or Instagram ad. Nothing beyond the first is stored unless you agree to it.
When you first arrive we ask whether we may record where you came from, for example a search engine, Instagram, or a link someone sent you. It is stored in your browser for the length of your visit and sent to us only if you go on to make an enquiry.
If analytics is enabled, accepting also allows Google Analytics to measure which pages people find useful. The analytics script is not loaded at all unless you accept, so declining means it is never requested and no analytics cookies are set. We have turned off advertising signals and personalisation within it.
It tells us which of our efforts actually help people find us. That is genuinely useful to a company deciding where to spend limited time and money, but it is not necessary for you, which is why we ask rather than assume.
If you accept, we also load Meta's advertising pixel, which is not loaded at all unless you accept. It tells us when someone who saw one of our Facebook or Instagram ads later visits the site, so we know whether that ad was worth running.
Doing this sets a cookie in your browser and sends Meta the page you visited and standard browser information. Meta may use this to measure ad performance and to show you ads for Beyond the Wild later, including on other websites and apps. What Meta does with that data beyond that is governed by Meta's own privacy policy, not ours.
Declining means the pixel is never requested and none of this happens.
Nothing is stored, anything already captured is cleared, and the website behaves exactly the same. You can still browse, enquire and book. We simply do not learn where you came from, and neither Google nor Meta learns you were here.
There is no reduced version of the site for people who decline, and we do not ask again on every page.
Our host, Cloudflare Pages, processes standard technical information such as IP addresses in order to serve the website securely and protect it from abuse. This is a normal and necessary part of hosting any website and is not used to profile you.
You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, or by using the link on this page. Your next visit will ask again.
This policy has already been updated twice as tools were added: once for analytics, once for advertising measurement. Each time, the consent controls were extended before the tool was switched on, not afterwards, and this page was rewritten to describe what actually happens rather than what used to. If we add another tool, the same applies.
